Polearms all swing like Polearms, Blade Grips all swing the same, Knuckle grips are all the same, semi-auto and automatic barrels are all the same as their repsective type, etc. The different parts however feels all the same outside of the actual style chosen by the Melee Grip or Gun Barrel. Guns aren't as interesting yet but you still pick a grip and barrel and can color them quite a bit. You can make things like scythes, daggers, swords, axes, spears, you can dual-wield, you can color them how you want, even make them look like beam weapons or glowing molten-hot.
You also can make your own weapons choosing from many parts, with a few different styles each. On top of all of this you have more options for colors, with the ability to apply metallic and glowing effects. You can also color your inner-frame with a few color selections total. Same for the arms which are broken down into a few parts. But its head-scratching story and lifeless environments prevent it from being an instant. You can customize many different sections separately, like picking different upper leg and lower leg parts, different knee plates, different feet, and you can do them separately from each other, so each leg can be different. Daemon X Machina impresses with its focus on big guns, mecha customization, and wild, anime-style action. lets you do a ton with customization, but doesn't have a ton of parts to pick from. You cannot customize the color or look of your weapons whatsoever (unless it's a Gun Arm, technically.) Your access to Metallic colors is limited to Patterns which cover your entire mech and have zero options. Colors are limited to your typical computer color wheel/gradient, only base colors. However it has a pretty good selection of different parts. You can only change up to 3 colors per part in DxM, and only the core parts as they are to build your mech (full pairs of legs, left and right arms, torso, head.) You also cannot change the lights on your Mech, so they are always a Reddish-Orange color. Builder is Early Access, doesn't have many missions yet, missions are pretty basic and similar.īut DxM isn't very impressive for customization and shows it's age. It's a complete game and has about everything you would expect in an Armored Core game.
